A Personal Story

Dear. Dr. Whitcomb

Attached is picture of Evan being presented with an award last night by Toronto Hockey great, Ron Ellis and GTHL President, John Gardner at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Evan was presented with a Special Contribution Award recognizing the inspirational courage he displayed in overcoming adversity while maintaining a dedication and commitment to competing in hockey. It was a lovely ceremony with a few select players, coaches and influencial people receiving special contribution awards. John Gardner went into great detail about Evan's medical problems and how he fought to continue hockey throughout. You were specifically mentioned in the medical treatment he received. The crowd was really moved by his preseverence and courage and it was a great boost to Evan.

Evan is doing quite well. His marks this term were over 90% and he is now back to playing baseball, along with his hockey. He continues to have small physical problems crop up - muscles pulled, etc., but he seems quite stable with the problems he came to see you with last year. Whenever he has a little physical setback, he confidently says it is not affecting his neck or sleep - all the key areas we used to monitor continually.

He continually asks to return to Tahoe to visit. His thoughts and our thoughts are always with you. Thank you for doing the good that you do for so many people.

Regards,
Julia Wall
